Approved STIP Funding
I am very happy to announce that Parkland County has been approved for STIP funding. STIP stands for the Strategic Transportation Infrastructure Program, and our government announced back in November of 2019 that we would be offering this program to municipalities to fund municipal projects that fell under the main umbrella of this program. As many of you are probably aware, waste water management systems fall under this program and that is exactly what Parkland County is receiving funding for.
Parkland County applied for support towards upgrading their Gravity Sewer System. I am pleased to say that we are able to provide them with more than $1.4 million towards upgrading their system, and creating 53 jobs in the area at the same time.
What Does STIP Mean For Alberta?
This program is a part of Alberta’s Recovery Plan to get Albertans back to work, and to get our economy up and running again. In fact, our government announced an additional $50 million for this program to support local municipalities in upgrading bridges, roads, and community airports.
By adding this additional funding to the program, this will help Albertans get back to work by creating 475 new jobs for Alberta as we jumpstart our economy.
The STIP program provides critical funding to support municipalities in developing and maintaining key local transportation infrastructure to promote economic growth and improve travel for residents and industry.
Target: Jobs Through the Upgrade of Alberta Infrastructure
With this funding in place, the goal is to make key infrastructure more reliable so Constituents in municipalities across the province can feel safe and secure when traveling and simply living their day-to-day lives.
Improving Waste Water systems in local municipalities is a major focus of this program as it will support 55 related projects, which will contribute a whopping 1,300 jobs for Albertans who are wanting to get back to work.
The STIP program is crucial for Alberta’s Recovery Plan and the funding being allocated to Parkland County is a prime example of that.
