Giving Hope to Alberta
The Legislature opened for a new session with the Speech from the Throne on February 25th followed by Budget 2020 delivered just 2 days later. On March 2nd I was honoured to introduce my Motion 501 in the Alberta Legislature.
The motion reads: “Be it resolved that the Legislative Assembly urge the Government to establish corridors for transportation and utility infrastructure including railways, roads, pipelines and transmission lines, in order to improve access to global markets for Alberta products and resources via deep seaports in locations including but not limited to Hudson Bay, Kitimat, and the state of Alaska.”
Subsequently, both the Alaska – Alberta Railway Development Corporation and the Building Trades of Alberta representing more than 60,000 skilled tradeswomen and men within 18 local unions across the Province have issued statements of support.
Passed: Motion 501
Alberta Legislatture pass Motion 501 and we are one step closer to having reliable access to tidewater. This opens opportunities for exports of grain, bitumen, natural gas, coal and other natural resources as well as manufactured goods produced right here.
This is truly a “game-changer”.
