Call for Nominations
MLA Shane Getson would like to encourage all Albertans to nominate an individual, business or non-profit organization for a Minister’s Seniors Service Award.

Nominations for the Minister’s Seniors Service Awards are open until Aug. 11, 2020.
Key Messages:
- The COVID-19 pandemic has changed how we live our daily lives, and we know seniors have been deeply affected.
- Now, more than ever, it is important to honour the outstanding Albertans who are investing their time, energy and resources for the benefit of seniors.
- Across Alberta, countless individuals and groups – including seniors themselves – have stepped up in new and innovative ways to ensure older adults have the supports they need during the COVID-19 pandemic.
- We all know these people – they are in our community, our workplace, our family.
- Albertans are encouraged to nominate an individual, business or non-profit organization for a Minister’s Seniors Service Award.

- Albertans can nominate individuals, businesses or non-profit organizations who have served seniors through their extraordinary work in volunteerism, philanthropy, innovation or outstanding service during the COVID-19 pandemic.
- The nomination deadline is Aug. 11, 2020.
- All nominees will be recognized online, and award recipients will be publicly honoured in the fall.
Background
- The Minister’s Seniors Service Awards have celebrated individuals and organizations that serve seniors since 1998.
- The department received: 53 nominations in 2019; 50nominations in 2018; 84 nominations in 2017; and 63 nominations in 2016.
