Shaping the Path to Alberta’s Recovery
The last couple of weeks have been extremely busy for our government as we have announced multiple developments and programs, geared to reinvigorate Alberta’s economy.
Alberta’s Recovery Plan is designed to get Albertans back to work as we navigate through the COVID-19 pandemic. One of the major ways our government is getting Albertans back to work is by investing $10 billion dollars into Infrastructure related projects in the province.
This is the largest investment in infrastructure in Alberta’s history, and the timing is fitting as we are experiencing an unprecedented time with the COVID-19 pandemic.
Our Conservative Government Mandate
Our government was elected on a mandate to prioritize the growth of Alberta’s economy, and that means creating jobs that provide opportunities for Albertans. With this investment in Infrastructure, Alberta is creating tens of thousands of jobs, making our economy more productive and resilient in the long-term.
A $10 billion-dollar Infrastructure investment will move Albertans from unemployment to well-paying jobs right now through building roads, bridges, overpasses, water projects, pipelines, gas lines, schools, hospitals, long term care homes, treatment centres, tourist facilities, and much more.
Moreover, this will spur the creation of thousands of other jobs for sub-contractors, suppliers, small businesses, hotels, and restaurants in every corner of the province.
Alberta’s infrastructure plan represents a 40% increase over what had initially been budgeted in the province’s 2020-2021 Capital Plan.
Our Plan Is To Prepare Alberta for Present and Future Generations
Infrastructure projects will be created and improved across every region of the province, and will include the twinning of highways, projects supporting growth in the agricultural sector, gas line extensions for northern residents, treatment facilities for Albertans recovering from addictions, and many other important projects.
Early reports indicate that at least 50,000 jobs will be created throughout the province with this plan, all while attracting investment at the same time.
Infrastructure is a critical component of sustained growth that will solidify the stability and durability of our economy for years to come. By investing in these projects now, we are laying the foundation for the private sector to grow and create thousands of good-paying jobs for Alberta’s work force.
This is exactly the kind of government our province needs, and the kind of government Albertans voted for in April of 2019. Government needs to allow the private sector to do what is does best, creating jobs and building developments that many can rely on. Our government is committed to helping the private sector and that is exactly what this investment does: creating opportunities for Albertans to work, and build the lives and families they want.
This needs to be the role of any effective government, and our government is committed to that philosophy.
Many fellow Constituents will be the direct beneficiaries of this investment as their livelihoods are tied to infrastructure-related projects.
I am happy for many of my fellow Constituents who will appreciate this much needed support, and I am encouraged that investments like this indicate a better future for Alberta, and the tremendous Albertans who call the province home.
